Priorities

My vision for our community is to have a successful downtown by the following plan:

  • Illuminate dark streets, parks and bayfront for more attractive and safe city.

  • Install solar lighting on the rooftops of buildings along Burlingame Avenue and Broadway to have solar energy for all electrical lighting including trees illumination. Extend solar lighting to all parks and the waterfront boardwalk by the hotels to keep making these areas safer, more beautiful, and inviting.

  • Increase security by training volunteers for a neighborhood watch program in collaboration with the Burlingame Police Department. This will foster community involvement and help in maintaining a safe and secure environment.

Safety

As a resident of Burlingame living alongside El Camino Real, I deeply understand the challenges faced by commuters and residents alike. I am committed to expediting the renovation of El Camino Real while minimizing disruptions to electricity services. Here are the key steps I propose:

  • I will establish a dedicated team to coordinate with PG&E, CalTrans local government, and contractors, ensuring alignment on project timelines. Regular coordination meetings will be scheduled to monitor progress, address issues promptly, and make timely decisions. I will keep the community informed through regular updates via local media, social platforms, and community meetings, and establish a hotline for residents and businesses to report issues and receive updates. I will collaborate closely with CalTrans to ensure project alignment and smooth execution, and coordinate with CalTrans to schedule work during off-peak hours or at night to minimize disruption to electricity services and traffic.

  • Temporary power solutions, such as providing generators, to maintain continuous electricity supply during critical phases. Making sure that an experienced project managers will be deployed on-site to oversee progress, ensure adherence to plans, and promptly resolve issues. A rapid response team will be formed to swiftly address unexpected issues, and comprehensive risk management plans will be developed and implemented for weather, equipment failures, and supply chain disruptions.

  • Regular inspections will be conducted to maintain quality and safety standards, with immediate resolution of any issues. As a landscaping designer, I will recommend trees suitable for our environment and climate.

  • Proposing reducing left turns at every street on El Camino Real to avoid slowing down of traffic and making a traffic signal designated to left turn only every few blocks which can reduce driving hazards

  •  Adding traffic lights for all intersections which will make it safer for pedestrians crossing and for cars making left turns to avoid accident since currently they can only rely on slow traffic

By following these steps, we can accelerate the renovation of El Camino Real while ensuring minimal disruption and efficient completion of the project, benefiting all residents and businesses in Burlingame.

El Camino Real

  • All through the years living in Burlingame I have seen the problem with this crossing. Just like me all the residents would agree that this crossing is one of the deadliest in the state and we have seen our fair share of accidents. I know for a fact that our current city councils are trying their best to get the state funding approved, but this project is lengthy and expensive and in the meantime we can keep losing precious lives to this crossing.

  • If elected, I am going to work relentlessly to get the much needed funding, but in the meantime I would make sure that not even one life is impacted by this crossing.

  • I will propose to paint the separation in bright colors, put a full time officer to deter people from crossing illegally and also put camera for citations. Studies have shown that such deterrents work very well to discourage people from breaking the law.

  •  I believe that these temporary measures are needed to make this crossing safer for people as soon as possible.

Broadway Grade Seperation

  • I will seek out ways to tackle the congestion issues on California Drive efficiently and effectively.

California Drive

  • Increase Parking

To address Burlingame's parking shortage and enhance overall accessibility, I propose a comprehensive plan. First, I will identify areas with the highest parking needs. Next, I will expand existing parking facilities by adding levels to current parking structures.New building developments will be required to include a specified number of parking spots. Additionally, I will implement measures such as time-limited parking and resident permit zones to optimize the use of existing street parking. I will convert unused parking spaces into parking areas such as churches parking lots, schools, etc,..Lastly, I will be working in tandem with the state and the city to find more funds than can be utilized towards parking.

Parking

  • Revamp Broadway to attract more businesses & visitors.

My goal is to enhance Broadway's infrastructure and its resident’s quality of life. The project aims to transform Broadway Street into a vibrant, safe, and accessible space. This includes upgrading and adding new pedestrian crosswalks with better visibility and safety features, installing enhanced lighting on crosswalks and modern street lighting for well-lit streets and sidewalks. Beautification projects will introduce new street furniture, planters, sidewalk repairs, and public art. I will encourage mixed-use development with residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, ensuring ample parking. Increasing street trees on side streets will provide shade and improve air quality.  Additionally, as a landscaping designer, I plan to redesign the entrance of Broadway from Bayshore, extending over the ramp, and install a beautiful new LED light for the lighted arch at the entrance of Broadway to save energy and avoid constant costly replacement of the lighted letters every time one goes out. These priorities aim to enhance Broadway's functionality and appearance, foster community pride, and attract more business to local establishments.

  • Howard Avenue & Enhancements:

Plant trees along Howard Avenue to provide shade, improve air quality, and enhance the visual appeal of the street. Install additional lighting to ensure a safer environment for pedestrians and motorists. especially at night. Add attractive landscaping to draw more foot traffic and create a welcoming atmosphere to support local businesses and encourage new ones to open.

  • Waterfront Enhancements

To enhance Burlingame's waterfront boardwalk from the Marriott hotel to Embassy Suites, my comprehensive plan focuses on revitalizing this vital community space that people love to use for jogging, cycling and walking with their family and fur friends. I will expand and beautify the pathway along the water with durable materials and decorative elements, ensuring safety with well-placed solar LED lighting. Introducing a diverse array of waterfront dining options will offer modern settings with scenic views. Native trees and vibrant landscaping will enhance the natural beauty, complemented by amenities such as benches, shade structures, and public art installations. Promoting outdoor activities like kayaking and paddleboarding will encourage sustainability while ensuring accessibility through improved signage and transportation links. This initiative aims to create a vibrant, inclusive destination that not only makes the best use of our location and geography, but also brings in an additional revenue stream through sales tax and parking that will be used to enhance our great city’s infrastructure.

Beauty

  • Cleanliness in the city neighborhoods and Downtown Area including side streets:

To ensure Broadway Street remains clean and well-maintained, I will implement rigorous daily maintenance practices. This includes daily cleaning of streets, sidewalks, and public spaces, frequent emptying of trash bins with removal by 9 AM each day. Mandatory cleaning of trash bins and installation of doggie poo bag stands with awareness signs encouraging responsible pet ownership. Public trash cans will be added along downtown side streets and California Drive for disposing of dog waste bags. Prompt removal of graffiti and vandalism, replacement of old newspaper stands, and painting of electrical poles and public garbage cans with uniform black paint to prevent chipping or rust will also be ensured. Planting the areas surrounding the trees on Broadway with regular weeding for a clean aesthetic.

Public restrooms will undergo multiple daily sanitation cleanings, stocked with necessary supplies, and regularly inspected for maintenance needs. Parks and green spaces will have litter removed, pests controlled, and plants and trees maintained for health. Streets will be swept regularly, high-traffic areas power washed periodically, and storm drains kept clear to prevent flooding. Proper disposal of hazardous materials to prevent contamination and public education on cleanliness and waste disposal will be promoted. Community involvement through clean-up drives and volunteer programs will be encouraged, with a dedicated site for reporting cleanliness issues and providing feedback. Collaboration with local businesses to maintain cleanliness around their premises and offering incentives for downtown cleanliness contributions will be prioritized, ensuring regular inspections to uphold these standards.

Cleanliness

  • Partnership with City schools

Collaborating with city schools is essential for improving education and community well-being. I will allow schools to rent out their facilities to help them generate extra funds that they can use per their discretion. I will be securing grants for school programs and infrastructure improvements that will be divided to all schools in an equitable fashion. Encouraging parental and community involvement through volunteer programs and advisory councils, and developing civic education programs tol teach students about local government and civic participation. Partnering with local health organizations to provide mental health resources in schools and supporting nutrition programs will ensure students have access to healthy meals. I will improve safe routes for students and enhance school security in collaboration with law enforcement. Supporting school gardens and agricultural projects will promote mental and physical well-being and provide fresh produce for school’s cafeterias. Working with local tech companies will expose students to the latest technology. Additionally, co-hosting community events and organizing family night dinners with local restaurants to raise funds for schools will foster unity and support for education.

Collaborate With Schools

  • I will actively seek feedback and ideas from residents and local businesses to ensure that the Broadway street community needs are met.

  • Volunteer opportunities will be encouraged for community participation in beautification efforts, including planting days and clean-up events.

  • I would encourage students to create murals for both Burlingame Avenue and Broadway that not only would make our city beautiful, but students will feel the connection to our beautiful city, and I will ask the schools to count it as credit towards their art class.
